Do you find yourself staring at your numerous skin care purchases and feeling overwhelmed? How should you use them, when should you use them, can they be combined? Which ones are good for hydration, which one’s target breakouts, which one has the peptides again? What are peptides? It’s time for a skin reset!

Hit the pause button and let’s dive into skin care optimization by starting with the basics. Separate your skin care into the following categories.

  • Cleansers

  • Toners

  • Exfoliants

  • Masques

  • Serums

  • Concentrates

  • Oils

  • Eye Treatments

  • Lip Treatments

  • Moisturizers

  • SPF

  • Other - Self Tanning Products, Peeling Systems, etc.

Now, let’s break it down further:

  • Morning Routine

  • Evening Routine

  • Weekly Routine

When we’re considering a basic skin care routine this is how we would achieve optimization. You want to separate your product by category and then define them by when you would use them, as follow:

Morning Routine:

  • Cleansers

  • Toner

  • Serums

  • Concentrates

  • Eye Treatments

  • Lip Treatments

  • Moisturizers

  • SPF

Evening Routine:

  • Cleansers

  • Toner

  • Serums

  • Concentrates

  • Eye Treatments

  • Lip Treatments

  • Oils

  • Moisturizers

Weekly Routine:

  • Exfoliants

  • Masques

Layering your skin care effectively will enhance results. This is achieved by creating the perfect canvas. Always double cleanse your skin, morning, and evening. Tone skin to help balance the pH and remove any cleanser, make up, or residual pollutants from the skin.

Serums are the first treatment step in your routine. Serums are designed to provide a deeply corrective action by dropping into the underlying structures of the skin. Next your concentrates are to follow, enhancing the action of serums and slow releasing added nutrients as needed.

Eye and lip treatment products should be applied before any other products that have a dense molecular structure such as oils and moisturizers. Carefully tap eye treatments onto the orbital bone, and not too close to the eye, with your ring finger. Micro movements from facial expressions and blinking will ensure that the product is dispersed as needed, thus there is no need to apply product too close to the eye as unwanted product may get in it.

Massage lip product into your lip and the surrounding area with your fingertips. Focus on your mouth corners to help release tension and improve circulation, tone & texture. Follow with a moisturizer & SPF during the daytime, or a facial oil and moisturizer at night.

Once to twice per week you'll want to exfoliate skin with an exfoliant best suited for your skin. Before exfoliating the skin, you need to double cleanse. Always be careful around the eye area when exfoliating and include the neck and décolleté. The same application is recommended when applying a masque. Leave the masque on as per directions, remove once the treatment time has been reached and continue with your regular skin care routine.
