Holistic Wellbeing

Holistic therapies are more than just a trend, they are the key to optimal wellbeing! The term holistic refers to the mind, body and soul collectively. Therapies such as aromatherapy, reflexology, reiki, guided meditations, breathwork and more, are geared towards relaxing the body, calming the mind and soothing your soul. These therapies provide centering and grounding rituals to help lower cortisol levels, promote deeper breathing, increases circulation, and releases pent-up tensions & emotions.

Now, more than ever, there is a better understanding of the mind-body connection and how emotional distress manifests in the body.

In the words of Mahatma Gandhi

" Your beliefs become your thoughts,

Your thoughts become your words,

Your words become your actions,

Your actions become your habits,

Your habits become your values,

Your values become your destiny."

Holistic wellbeing extends beyond the therapy room and can be incorporated into your daily self care routines.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a profoundly effective tool to help boost your mood in the morning when incorporating an invigorating blend, or by helping you wind down after a long day with a calming & relaxing blend.

Simply dispense a few drops of the selected synergistic blend (pure essential oils that have been diluted with a carrier oil in safe ratios for topical use) into the palm of your hand. Gently spread the oils between both hands. Do not add too much heat or friction as this will result in the loss of therapeutic benefits. Cup your hands together and take a several deep breaths. Next firmly press the oil blend into areas of tension such as your arms, shoulders, back and legs.

Aromatherapy has an instant effect on your olfactory system which extends to the limbic system of the brain, where emotions are stored. Aromas have a profound effect on our moods and can evoke a variety of emotions, which is why Aromatherapy is such a powerful holistic therapy.

Inhalation allows the oils to be absorbed via your lungs within a matter of seconds. Topically the oils will be absorbed into your system within a matter of minutes and the benefits of the oils (based on the percentage of essentials oils incorporated into the blend) can last several hours.

Self Massage

Following the use of an Aromatherapy ritual you can further enhance your wellbeing by applying self massage techniques. Massage in itself is a holistic therapy and when focusing on the emotional connection associated with tension, you are able to understand your triggers better and how your body stores negative emotions.

Our absolutely favourite self massage ritual is from Comfort Zone and can be found here:

Meditation

Meditation, prayer, deep thoughts or quiet time is a powerful practice. With a variety of apps available, there is something for everyone, whether you are a novice or a pro.

By quieting the mind, you are able to reduce stress, promote emotional wellbeing, increase self awareness, and be more present.

Find a tranquil space in your home. You may choose

to lie down or sit in a comfortable position. Close your eyes and focus on each breath. Focus on how each breath causes your chest & belly to rise and fall. If you catch your thoughts wandering, bring it back to the breath. You may choose to set a time when starting out and increase the time as you progress in your meditation practice.

Whether you choose to incorporate one holistic self care practice or all three, we know that the outcome will only be positive!
